Meet the Pastor

Taro D. Golden Sr. (aka *Bishop RO*) is the founder and Pastor of New Covenant Ministries in Idaho Falls, ID. and  Prelate of the Idaho Jurisdiction of the Church Of God In Christ. Bishop Golden was born in Detroit Michigan in 1969, and is married to Evangelist First Lady Karen Golden, they have five children.

 

Bishop Golden received Christ as his Lord and savior in 1996 and received his call to ministry in 1997 under the direction of his Spiritual mentor Dr. Ron C. Hill of then Love and Unity Church of God In Christ.

 

Having grown up in and around the negative influences of gangs and the violence of Long Beach, CA. Bishop Golden has developed a passion for helping others handle life problems through the Word of God.  To accomplish this goal, Bishop Golden utilizes his education and experiences in  social sciences to attack the social problems that affect his community by training people how to have victorious lifestyles in the Lord Jesus Christ. Bishop Golden Played Football at Long Beach City College & The University of Montana – Western. He later coached two seasons at Western before earning his B.A. in Social Science in 2001.  Bishop Golden was active in campaus ministries as a leader with Chi Alpha christion fellowship and a youth Pastor at Dillon Assembly of God. He was the first African American to graduate w/ a four year degree from “Western” in over twenty years. He also was invited by the University to be the Baccalaureate speaker of his own Graduation. Feeling the call to come back home to COGIC Bishop Golden follow the hand of the Lord to Idaho to swerve and labor.

 

He is an active member of his community. Bishop Golden is also known as “Coach Golden”, as he coaches football in Idaho Falls school District 91, he is vice chair of the board of directors of Idaho Falls “Faith Housing” for under privileged families, as well as vice chair on the Mayors Race Relation committee in the city of Idaho Falls. He also serves as a volunteer Chaplin with the 3-B youth detention Center in Idaho Falls. His career field as a Psychosocial Rehabilitation Worker keeps him active in the community on a daily basis. He has also been a guest contributor on Idaho Public Television’s “Faith and Foreign Affairs” project. He boasts a beautiful family of 5 Children and a wonderful wife in Karen Golden whom the Lord God has blessed him w/ 13 yrs of marriage. Bishop Golden was consecrated in the 103rd Holy Convocation of the Church Of God In Christ in St. Louis Mo. Nov 15th 2010, and he is currently the youngest Jurisdictional Prelate in the denomination.
